Q & A
Early Bodybuilding Influences and Role Models?
I read a book on Tom Platz when I was 12 I believe maybe earlier, and his legs blew me away, his legs where amazing, I remember always wanting to have huge legs from that day on. Arnold's Films as a kid had me glued to the TV also Wrestling, I was increasingly drawn to the extra normal shall we say, wanting to look like a cartoon appealed to me but coming from as far back as I can honestly remember.
As for role models I have many family and friends whom I look up to, I use their attributes, try and evolve them into my life somewhat so that I can better my life. I think that is what a role model is being all about, I have so many that the list is huge, some know who they are and I cant thank these people enough for helping me become who I am.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
There's SO many… Winning the u21 Mr Universe… Winning the u90 and overall at the Mr Wales then going on to win the Mr Britain that same year, but Winning the overall at the 2007 British Nationals to earn my IFBB Pro Card has been the highlight thus far!
Being a proud Weider athlete is a dream come true! This was something i wanted to be since i got into this sport, signing with Weider was something I still have to pinch myself over, again meeting Joe Weider the very same day I signed was the icing on the cake. At the 2007 Olympia Weekend in Vegas, I signed on with Team Gaspari Nutrition because I am a firm believer in their product line and it was an honor to represent a company that is owned by a former bodybuilding icon, Rich Gaspari. Please look for me at appearances in the UK and in the USA as well.
What do you consider to be your worst body part?
I have many but this is Bodybuilding and we strive to constantly improve, if I didn't I wouldn't be in the sport.
What is you least favorite exercise?
I don't have any, If you tend to have a least favorite exercise you should contemplate ''Why is it your least favorite?'' Is it because you fear the pain from it? Pain is a good feeling... It reminds you that you're not in the gym to mess around.
What is your favorite binge-out?
Cheese Cake...... When i was living in California right near my house there was a Cheese cake factory, I love it............................
I must of eaten all the menu of 20 something cheese cakes my fave is called ADAM'S PEANUT BUTTER CUP FUDGE RIPPLE every Bodybuilder friend of mine ive had try this is addicted to it. I'm sure there's no many more who don't know it yet but will be soon also!
Two of my favourite things that I eat everyday in the off season and all the way up to my show are my Pancakes made from 12-15 egg whites and oats and also my IntraPro™ and Oats and Banana's, its not a binge out but I love them so much I even have it on my cheat days!
What do you love the most about bodybuilding?
The ability to control your fortune.... Arnold once said that like a sculptor if you need more delts then like a artist instead of clay you train that body part. Being in a sport where your physique does the talking, when you up on that stage there's nowhere to hide, unlike other sports i have played, players can be made to look good by others unlike this sport once your up on stage you better be in shape as no one will make you look good.
The discipline and drive you need to be a Bodybuilder is second to none, and achieving the goal that you set out months ago to achieve is by many never seen unto you.....
Learning more and more about my body and nutrition every time I compete is one of the most fascinating things.
That said meeting people from all the different parts of the world, friendships that have been made, having emails sent to me from all over, well wishes and complements makes me push harder to create the perfect physique and humble me know that out there i have some great fans.
What advice would you give to upcoming bodybuilders?
Seek guidance off a well know competitor or if you have one in your gym a Professional to spare 10 mins of his time. Read and obtain all you can on Nutrition, that is the key! The is no quick way of getting BIG, contrary to what some think. It all stems from having a well balanced diet, good supplement intake, along with hard training and plenty of rest. Eat - Sleep - Train = Start growing!
