September 11, 2013
It's hard to believe it's been 12 years since the towers came down. It seems like only yesterday I was sitting in my dorm room during my freshman year in college watching the second tower get hit. So many lives were changed in an instant that day. I think everyone was forever a little changed watching it on television.
Here we are years later remembering those that were lost that day. On the ten year anniversary of the towers coming down I was in New York with old and new friends taking part in my first and only GORUCK event. I can say surrounded by former servicemen and servicewomen it was an honor to remember the day in such a special way. Today I am thousands of miles away from New York and from it all, but still each September 11th I am reminded to thank the people around me for everything I do and have. Especially it reminds me to tell my friends and family how much I love them because you never know what tomorrow will bring. It is love that is important to be shared today more than ever, love for all those in your life, and thankfulness for everything we all have. That is how I choose to remember September 11th this year.
