Fitness Background:

How long have you been into fitness? Since 1996. I started when I was a cheerleader at the Air Force Academy and started competing in 1997 as a hobby.

How did you get started?  I just wanted a competitive venue to express my talents and strive for athletic excellence.

Why do you train? What motivates you?  I am motivated by results and enjoy the journey. The journey often includes character building, discipline, sacrifice and time management. I am also motivated by competition. I love challenging myself to be better and taking things to the next level. But most of all, I just love the active lifestyle and being passionate about fitness.

What are your goals?  Short term: Win the Fitness Olympia, build the SAVE FITNESS team, develop my bootcamp business, become a fire fighter (!). Long term: Start a ministry called Fit Esteem, Become an IFBB Pro judge/state chairman, finish my MBA, compete in a sprint triathalon, climb Mt Rainer, and most of all, raise a family.

What are the underlying principles behind your approach to fitness?  Start with the basics. Eat to grow. Be consistent. Never give up.

What does the phrase “Push Harder” mean to you?  One more rep, higher jump,  sharper snap in movement, expect more of yourself!

What advice would you give to someone who is just getting started as a serious fitness athlete? Be sure that their identity is secure and established first. You don’t want to be defined by the sport. Stay true to yourself.
